There, peeping above the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for awhile. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up and out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing; there was light and high beauty forever beyond its reach. J.R.R. Tolkien

Easter

He is risen.
Inexpressible hope.
Joy.

But it began in darkness.
Brokenness.
Separation.
Searing grief of two people realizing they had lost everything.
Breathless, rending pain.
Loss.
Desperation.

Met by love unparalleled.
Stepping into our darkness.
Here.
With us.
One of us.

Met by betrayal.
Hatred.
Death.

But....

Triumph.
Light.
Life.

And in these recent days, ones I love have reeled from betrayal, rejection.
A dear one remains behind bars.
Other dear ones long for healing only to be met with fresh injury.
Fear and uncertainty and loss remain.
Tears.
Darkness still threatens.

Oh, but light is here.
And the darkness cannot overcome it.
Jesus Christ.
The One and Only.

Happy Easter.
