There, peeping above the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for awhile. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up and out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing; there was light and high beauty forever beyond its reach. J.R.R. Tolkien

Of Love and Phones

Long story short....I got reminded today that I am still a sinner. I also got to think about the stunning, jaw-dropping expression of love that God poured out on me in sending his Son. Wow. My sin just came right on out today and crashed into a love I can't explain and I'm still reeling. I wish I didn't sin anymore. I really do. It nearly tears me in two when God's love pours into this messy heart of mine and he loves me all over again. Really, if you don't know God this way, the way he just wades into your pain, your messiness, your life--you've got to take care of that this second. I don't know how you're making it otherwise.

So, with that obviously serious opening, here's the closing:

Q: How long can a human hold a phone to her ear before realizing she hasn't yet pressed "Dial"?
A: Current record by this human is about 2 minutes.
