There, peeping above the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for awhile. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up and out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing; there was light and high beauty forever beyond its reach. J.R.R. Tolkien

Let The Olympics Begin

We haven't had television in many years. This year, we do. I have to admit, I'm excited about the Olympics. We got to watch the opening ceremonies with my sister and her family and that was really fun. This next two weeks may be the time I finally learn how to operate the television and not just the DVD player.

So far, I've heard a couple of little funnies from my kids. It's obvious they will learn quite a bit from this round of Olympics.

Elijah: I can't wait to see gymnastics. I can't believe all the tricks they can do on the balance bean.

Joseph: Dad, did you know they have different weights in boxing? Like waterweight and heavyweight?

I think these next couple of weeks will be fun....and educational.

Oh, just so you know, I am somewhat of an expert on waterweight, but chose NOT to educate my son about my own level of expertise and firsthand experience.
