There, peeping above the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for awhile. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up and out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing; there was light and high beauty forever beyond its reach. J.R.R. Tolkien

Haircut Day

It was time. The 3 of us needed haircuts--badly. We all look a bit different. Quite a bit. Joseph chose a buzz cut. It's been awhile since he's had super short hair and he looks so OLD!! I got those crazy my-baby-is-growing-up-so-fast teary eyes right there in the shop. (Of course, I cry at the drop of a hat these days, but still.....) I get to call him Buzz, at least for awhile.

Elijah relieved some of my mom tears when he got a regular cut but requested a double mohawk. He saw it in a book about monkeys (Bobby the Bold) and decided he wanted it today. It's temporary. The sides aren't actually shaved. We've been calling him Double Mo.

My haircut wasn't quite as fun. It's pretty short again, but necessary. The medication is changing my hair. It's a different texture. It has these weird curls, but not enough to be attractive and it isn't holding color. I colored my hair a week ago and the color has basically washed out. My hairstylist told me this happens a lot with clients on medications.

Just a note: If you are on any meds and you are getting your hair colored, tell your stylist first. You can get some wacked out hair if you are on certain meds and you choose certain colors.

Buzz and Double Mo are making a lot of noise.....Time to investigate.

  1. Hey Patti! You can have your stylist order a pre-treatment that strips the meds out of the hair... or makes it take color/perms better. Years ago when I did perms and traditional color this is what my stylist did. Hair. Glad it's on our heads - but wish we didn't have to mess with it, eh? Love ya, Aunt Bossy

It's always fun to get comments, but if you post anonymously, I don't know who you are! It would be super if you would leave your name.
