I was such a grouch yesterday. End of story. Not worth telling.
Today, it appears that the grouchy bug has flown elsewhere. I had a really fun morning figuring out how to explain James 2:10 to Elijah. He is memorizing this for Sparks, but kids always memorize better when they understand what they are memorizing. He was struggling along, and I had this idea....inspiration!! The verse is, "For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it." I got out spaghetti noodles. I said the noodle was God's unbroken law. He and I made one noodle really sinful and broke it into lots of pieces. He totally understood this was breaking God's law. Then we took another noodle and broke it only once. Still broken. He got it. The verse is memorized. I love ideas like that.
I had to smile when I found myself unsuccessfully trying to rub in hand lotion this morning. I was getting a little frustrated. Then I realized I was using hand soap. Yup.
Finally, my smile that keeps coming back today is actually from last night's bedtime prayer. "Dear heavenly Father, thank you for war and trouble....."
Capitalization is so important. Try this: "Dear heavenly Father, thank you for War and Trouble...."
Now you figure it out. Is this a really odd 5-year-old who totally embraces sharing in the sufferings of Christ? Or just a kid thankful he played games with the fam?
I was totally cracking up during prayer. Still kind of am.

I've done the hand soap thing. Got a sample of something that I though was lotion...used it for a week before I figured it out.
