For those of you history lovers out there, you may think you know something about the Boxer Rebellion. You may think it was over and done long ago. Not so. There was an uprising just this evening. Hopefully, this is the final chapter in the Boxer Rebellion.
It all started with two weary parents needing to ask multiple times for obedience from their equally weary children. One child had finally made it to his room and was almost in bed. The other was finally headed for the shower--or so the parents thought. Two minutes later, there was definitely no sound of the shower running. There seemed to be the noise of boys running about, yelling and playing, and the older somehow chasing the younger while wildly waving his sleep shorts and t-shirt in the air. Both parents attempted to studiously ignore this, desperately hoping they had somehow misunderstand the noises and they were actually from the neighbor's house. Then, it happened. You know. Someone got hurt. Moms? Someone ALWAYS gets hurt, right? The distinct sound of the younger child crying pierced the air and the parents could no longer ignore the situation and pretend it was the neighbor's children. Both parents responded immediately in perfect unison, "GET IN THE SHOWER!" The older scampered. The younger continued whimpering. The mother worked up the most sympathy she could muster and asked the poor, whimpering child, "What happened?" The reply? "He hit me in the eye with his boxers." The parents attempted not to laugh hysterically, went through all the forgiveness/apology steps boy-to-boy and boy-to-parent (for disobedience), and then it all fell apart with 4 tired people dissolving into laughter over the Boxer Rebellion incident. And, there, hopefully--the Boxer Rebellion is finally over.
