There, peeping above the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for awhile. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up and out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing; there was light and high beauty forever beyond its reach. J.R.R. Tolkien

Rehearsal Day

Today has turned into rehearsal day. I have found myself rehearsing all the reasons I have to be discontent or in a bad mood or upset or sad. I do have some valid reasons for sadness this day, but I have allowed this rehearsal to go on way too long. It's time for some gratitude. It's not what I want to do, but as I spent some time with the Lord, I became quite convicted about needing to renew my mind and heart. So, here goes.....I am grateful for:

1) A God who loves me the same, even when I am in rehearsal.

2) A 9-year-old son who cooked breakfast this morning for the first time.

3) Hearing a friend's voice and knowing she was going to be okay, despite a setback.

4) Ice cream.

5) Protection during a tough week with allergies.

6) A God who is everywhere, even with my nephews in Alaska.

7) A God who loves me enough to ask me to end my rehearsal.

8) The week off that Brian had and the way he demonstrated his love for his family.

9) The huge and varied trees that surround my deck.

10) Talking to both of my sisters in the same week.

11) Being able to order a part for our dryer that was affordable and worked.

12) Coffee.

13) A down pillow. (I love my bed pillow, ok?)

14) New mercy every morning.

15) Last night's sunset enjoyed with a friend and a popsicle.

Gotta say--this gratitude list was like the first mile of a three mile run. It took some effort, but was worth it. Whew!

  1. Indeed there are days when its tough for me to make out my list, but its so refreshing when I'm done. I've learned that Satan is quite crafty at blinding us to God's goodness.

It's always fun to get comments, but if you post anonymously, I don't know who you are! It would be super if you would leave your name.
