There, peeping above the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for awhile. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up and out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing; there was light and high beauty forever beyond its reach. J.R.R. Tolkien

Quote of the Day

"You don't have an escape clause, Mommy."

This was particularly startling coming from a 4-year-old. Especially a 4-year-old who had been messing with stuff and was experiencing a mom whose frustration level was rather elevated. How perceptive are kids anyway? Was this a carefully placed reminder that I had no way out of being his mom? Wow. Deep stuff. What a vocabulary. Or as I realized hours later.....perhaps he was just telling me we don't have Santa Claus 3: Escape Clause. He saw an ad for it in a library movie he was watching.
