There, peeping above the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for awhile. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up and out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing; there was light and high beauty forever beyond its reach. J.R.R. Tolkien

Say What??

Chores can easily take half the day. I don't mean mine. Those pretty much never end. I mean the kids' chores. They can make 30 minutes of chores last 8 times longer. It's actually pretty impressive. Sheer talent.

This morning, Elijah came up with a new reason that he was unable to do his chores. Usually, he finds chores too "boring". This morning, it was because his room "smelled like a squirrel." Huh? Really. I have no idea.

He has since soldiered through the squirrel smell and finished his chores.

Just a few minutes ago, he told me that the squirrel smell is gone and isn't even on the roof. It's in the backyard. Let me just re-state.....Really. I have no idea.
