Our church building had a bad day yesterday. A pipe in the fire suppression sprinkler system burst. On the bright side, if there had been a fire, it would have been drowned and then some. On the not-so-bright side, there's a whole lotta damage, including in the main auditorium. We use every square inch of our building every Sunday and many times throughout the week. This will not be an easy challenge to overcome.
Side note......Between our at-home 911 dramas and our church building dramas involving the fire department (lightning strikes, fire in the neighboring field, power outages, children pulling the fire alarm, medical situations, gas leak, etc.), I am wondering if our last name is on a special list of frequent callers. Between Brian and me, we've seen quite a bit of our local fire department in the last few years.
Anyway, I am excited to see our church body pull together to work through this and work shoulder to shoulder in a new way.

You know, this is a huge bummer, but I have already witnessed people coming together and wanting to help and do what they can. Sometimes we need to look past the "bummer" and look at the blessings this will bring. Can't wait to see what God will do through this.
ReplyDeleteWe had some busted pipes with major damage as well at our church. the majority of the building was flooded. We did need new carpet!
