We have the opposite of smart phones.
The phones we have would have looked semi-miraculous to someone even twenty years ago, but now....well, they are just not smart. As we become more intractable with age, we don't really care about having smart phones. Besides, they come with something. A bill. Maybe we'll care someday. Maybe.
The problem is....everyone else seems to have one. Today, we called someone for information. That person was deeply annoyed to be bothered with a call, having sent an e-mail with the information at least 6 minutes (possibly even 7 minutes) prior to our call. It's just that our phones, despite their best efforts, are not so smart and could not receive that e-mail. Our home computer seems fairly bright and does well receiving e-mail, but that wasn't good enough.
On the bright side, I think my phone is OK with all this. It doesn't seem upset or hurt in any way to be identified as not smart.
Do you know what our current dream is? One of those new-fangled flat-screen TV's. We own possibly the most massive television set remaining in the western hemisphere. It's a beast. It's not a big screen, it's just drop-dead heavy and is a box-like thing that takes two people to carry. It works fairly well still, provided you know exactly where to hit it when the picture goes fuzzy during a movie......OK, a new television set isn't a dream exactly. In fact, we don't even have TV service. We only use our TV for movies. We do have our moments (especially when the picture goes fuzzy multiple times during a movie), but mostly we dream about other stuff like people we love turning to Jesus and our boys growing into passionate men of God and stuff like that. I guess the new TV thing is more like a want mostly, not a dream.
