There, peeping above the cloud-wrack above a dark tor high up in the mountains, Sam saw a white star twinkle for awhile. The beauty of it smote his heart, as he looked up and out of the forsaken land, and hope returned to him. For like a shaft, clear and cold, the thought pierced him that in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing; there was light and high beauty forever beyond its reach. J.R.R. Tolkien

Is It Friday Already?

Wow, I woke up today and had no idea where the last 7 days went. There was school and snow and cooking and chores and.....here we are.

I have overheard a couple of funnies around here. I love realizing how things sound to the ears of a child. Elijah came home with a windsock that he constructed at preschool. He told us it was a wingstock. This morning, he told us about a book called "Diarrhea of a Limping Kid". Still laughing. Say it aloud and it does sound quite a bit like "Diary of a Wimpy Kid". He just put in words that made sense to him. He doesn't know what a diary is and doesn't know the word wimpy, so there you go.

And, in honor of the mysterious pair of batteries that have been sitting in my bathroom for almost a week, unmoved, unclaimed....

One day in my bathroom something caught my gaze,
A perfectly matched set of double A's
Was sitting right there
A lovely pair
And they are still unclaimed after nearly 5 days.

Does no one else see these batteries???
